Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Jennifer Wells (jwbooks.xyz) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this website or subscribe to the reader newsletter. Your privacy matters. This site does not sell your data to anyone.
1. Information We Collect
Email address — only if you voluntarily subscribe to the newsletter. Subscribing is entirely optional.
Usage data — pages visited, time on site, referring URL, browser type, and device type. This is collected automatically and anonymously via Google Analytics.
Cookies — small files stored in your browser that help the site remember your preferences (e.g. cookie consent choice). See Section 4 for details.
2. Newsletter (MailerLite)
The newsletter subscription form is powered by MailerLite. When you subscribe, your email address is stored in MailerLite's systems and governed by their Privacy Policy.
Your email is used exclusively to send the Jennifer Wells reader newsletter — new release announcements, cover reveals, behind-the-scenes content, and occasional author updates. Your email is never shared with, sold to, or rented to any third party.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or by contacting us directly.
3. Analytics (Google Analytics)
This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics collects anonymous usage data and may set cookies in your browser. No personally identifiable information is collected through Google Analytics.
For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4. Cookies
This site uses two types of cookies:
- Functional cookies — used to remember your cookie consent choice. These are strictly necessary and do not track you.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics (if you accept cookies) to collect anonymous usage data.
- Advertising cookies — set by Meta Pixel (if you accept cookies) to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
You can decline non-essential cookies when the cookie banner appears. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
5. Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel)
This site uses the Meta Pixel to understand how visitors interact with the site after seeing advertisements on Facebook or Instagram. It may set cookies and collect information about your device and browsing behaviour.
For information on how Meta handles data, see Meta's Privacy Policy. You can manage ad preferences here.
6. Third-Party Links
This site contains links to external websites — including Amazon, Goodreads, BookBub, Instagram, and others. These sites have their own privacy policies, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for email marketing at any time
- Object to data processing
To exercise any of these rights, please use the contact form on the Contact page.
8. Data Retention
Email addresses are retained in MailerLite for as long as you remain subscribed. Upon unsubscribing, your data is removed from the active mailing list. Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months by default.
9. Children's Privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
